Unexpected admirers of art
It’s not for everyone. Yeah, well, think again.
Every time I receive a compliment from family and friends on my home decor, it’s always nice to hear. But what truly touches me are the unsolicited praises of admiration given by electricians, plumbers or technicians who enter my humble abode while they complete their work.
Art is often a matter of personal taste, so it throws me off when people I find the least likely to appreciate it make a kind comment about my home.
Although I have no training in interior decorating, I’m still absolutely obsessed with it. It’s definitely a hobby I thoroughly enjoy. Making my home beautiful (to me) has always been a priority.
But it's an unexpected pleasure to know that my little art collection can be shared for everyone’s enjoyment… and be appreciated for its beauty too! Big smile.
It’s not me, it’s you.
I’d like to take all the credit regarding my home’s decor, however I realize this is more of a compliment to the artists who created it.
One of the artists is my uncle from Brazil, Zacarias Barbosa. He was an OB-GYN who painted as a hobby and once he retired became a full-time artist.
His art hangs on my walls and is the reason I think my home sings of color, mood, warmth and energy. Without his artistry my home would clearly not have the same vibrancy it has today.
More than decor
With art, we have the privilege of bringing beauty into people's lives and celebrating its impact. It’s an honor to share the artists and their creativity with everyone who comes into my home especially my Google Fiber guys! I really, really, really love it that they, not only notice it but like it too.

Zacarias has certainly livened up many a home.
